Moxibustion or “moxa” is a multi-use, acrid and bitter herb whose Latin name is Artemesia Vulgaris. This herb is also called Mugwort or Ai Ye in Chinese. Both direct cone and rice grain moxa and indirect pole moxa are used to warm, nourish, and regulate the energy channels. This warming method is applied until the skin turns pink. When properly administered, moxa does not burn or scar the skin. This is a gentle technique.
